The PX-70 Blues

Okay, so I was getting super excited about posting stuff and photos of my new impossible project film. But from disaster 1 to the next, I have to say im not very happy with my Px-70 colour purchase.
Example A: The Big Brown Patch
To me, not that im an expert, with this photo it just looks as if there wasnt enough ink/chemicals to develop the entire picture. (I have checked the rollers, and this is not the problem).

Example B: 3 Shots Left
I have taken 5 Photos of the 8 that come in the impossible film pack, but when i try to take the rest of the photos it just seems that there is no more battery left in the pack.
After contacting the impossible project and trying everything they have suggested there has been nothing that works, so sits 3 untaken photos in my camera. I havnt read anywhere that this is a common problem but I am still trying to find a way to use these.

So from the 5 photos i have taken, this is what I have learned:
  • Work out a way to keep your photos covered after they have been taken, as with the impossible film, it needs to be covered straight after being shot. Here is my way of doing it: if you have any other ideas that might work better please suggest below.

  • Use a digital format as a practice beforehand (i use my iphone). This allows me to work out my angles and make sure i get the photo I want and not waste film. Impossible film is not easy for me to get my hands on in NZ!
  • Focus - Get it right - Not such a problem for the sx-70 cameras.
  • Use film within a couple of weeks, to ensure that you dont run out of Battery as I have!
  • Vivid colour is a must - especially with this film. And always, always, always try to use as as much natural light as possible. Photos i have taken inside just end up dark.
In this photo of a celing, I did not have enough natural light to capture the colour.

So i hope these tips have helped in some small way....anything else you can offer would be fantastic and much appreciated.

Px70 film from impossible project.

I have been a little busy with my old land camera... I found a way to buy px70 colour film in New Zealand! Although quite pricey, its something that I had hoped to do for a while now! After studying the not so simple rules for the new instant film (not as simple as the old stuff) I took my first photo this afternoon!

I am so so happy! I had to take an iPhone photo first just to check for angles etc because the film is too good to waste!

It looked a little blue earlier but now that the photo is more set this is the outcome! What an awesome process! Will post more as they come!
Also look out for my tips and tricks which will be coming soon... Until then
SNAP happy!

I hope that you enjoy reading and find some things a little inspiring. Mostly I just want to have a little fun and keep doin what I'm doin!
